Republican  Club  of  Falcon
www.FalconRepublicans.org
The Republican Club of Falcon supports the following legislative principles.

Economic Growth:
Because wasteful government spending and over-regulation, fueled by high taxes are the greatest obstacles to job creation and economic growth, we believe in a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution and a common-sense approach to government rules and red tape.

Education:
Because our children need and are entitled to the best education in the world, we believe in parental involvement, family choice in schooling, teacher and administration accountability, the authority of local school boards, an emphasis on basic skills, and safe classrooms.

Crime Prevention/Protection:
Because all Americans have the right to be safe in their homes, on their streets, and in their communities, we believe in tough law enforcement, stiff penalties for  criminals, the right of citizens to protect themselves through gun ownership, and the appointment of udges who will interpret the constitution, not legislate               from the bench.
Social Issues:
Because institutions like the Family are the backbone of our society, we support the Defense of Marriage Act, a ban on Partial-Birth Abortions, the right of parents to direct the upbringing of their children, and the sanctity of human life as expressed in the pro-life plank adopted at the  Republican National Convention.
Immigration:
We believe in immediately securing our borders.  We oppose amnesty for illegal aliens, believing it is an injustice to those immigrants  who have followed the rules and made America their home legally.

3 candidates in D-49 race get GOP nod
By BRIAN NEWSOME THE GAZETTE

"Three candidates in the Falcon School District 49 school-board race — enough for a majority — have received endorsements from the Republican Club of Falcon ........."

"The candidates — a businessman, a businesswoman and a politically active stay-athome mom — said they are not running as a slate and will not share campaign literature.

Still, the three said they are supportive of one another’s campaigns and share points of view on certain issues, chiefly a tightening of the administrative belt.

They’ve received the endorsement of Chuck Broerman, vice chairman of the newly formed Republican Club of Falcon. Broerman is also involved in a group opposed to a D-49 ballot question this November, and he’s held offices in both the El Paso County and Colorado Republican Party organizations.

Broerman has played a big role in transforming traditionally nonpartisan school-board elections into partisan affairs. He recruited two of three candidates running together in a seven-candidate race in Colorado Springs School District 11, the region’s largest school district.

Those candidates have said they generally support the reforms being pushed by three current D-11 board members. One of those reforms would be to spend taxpayer money for private-school vouchers.

In D-49, vouchers have not emerged as a primary issue, though at least one of the endorsed candidates, Anna Bartha, is a strong supporter of them and charter schools.

Regarding D-49, Broerman said, “We think this is a heavily Republican district where an endorsement can be beneficial.”

Eleven candidates are running this November for three of the five board seats in D-49, the fastest-growing district in the Pikes Peak region. That’s the greatest amount of candidates in any school-board race in the area.

Three D-49 incumbents — Paul Bryant, Carol Chapman and Judy Hollman — are termlimited and cannot run for reelection.

The school district in northeast Colorado Springs and the community of Falcon has nearly doubled in size since 1998. How to handle that growth — and school crowding — has become a divisive issue.

The candidates endorsed by the local Republican group include:

- Larry Stanley, 57, an entrepreneur and former corporate executive with grown children.

- Amy McClelland, 44, who owns an electrical contracting company and has a 2003 Falcon High School graduate and a Falcon High School senior.

- Bartha, 30, mother of a 3-year-old and treasurer of the El Paso County Republican Party. "

" all three candidates opposed a November ballot measure to raise property taxes to build and expand schools. A bond issue, which would result in a lower tax increase and is a more traditional way of borrowing, would be a better way to pay for construction, they said." ....

"The other eight candidates are not coordinating their campaigns, though at least one candidate, David Stark, said he would consider teaming up with other candidates as a slate that shared his views. " ..........

"Political-party affiliations are not noted on school-board election ballots, but Broerman believes they are still partisan.

“School-board elections are extremely partisan, but something Republicans haven’t touched,” he said.

The majority of state funding and a large amount of property taxes go to K-12 education, he said, and fiscal conservatism should be applied to manage it.

Those principles — specifically a mission to shift money from administration into classrooms — are shared by the three endorsed candidates, Broerman said. "

MERRY  CHRISTMAS  !

WASHINGTON, December 11, 2007

The U.S. House passed a resolution recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith by a vote of 372 to 9. Nine members voted against the resolution, ten refused to support it by voting "present," and 40 others members did not vote.

All but two of the representatives voting "present" or against the Christmas Resolution voted in favor of a resolution recognizing Ramadan, which passed by a 376-0 vote in October. The Ramadan Resolution stated that the House "recognizes the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world...expresses friendship and support for Muslims...acknowledges the onset of Ramadan...and conveys its respect to Muslims...rejects hatred, bigotry, and violence directed against Muslims...commends Muslims... who have privately and publicly rejected interpretations and movements of Islam that justify and encourage hatred, violence, and terror".

The Christmas Resolution uses similar language, stating that the House recognizes "the Christian faith as one of the great religions of the world...expresses continued support for Christians...acknowledges the international religious and historical importance of Christmas and the Christian faith...acknowledges and supports the role played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States and in the formation of the western civilization...rejects bigotry and persecution directed against Christians...and expresses its deepest respect to American Christians and Christians throughout the world".

The nine members who voted against the Christmas Resolution were all Democrats: Ackerman (NY), Clarke (NY), DeGette (CO), Hastings (FL), Lee (CA), McDermott (WA), Scott (VA), Stark (CA) and Woolsey (CA). The 10 who answered "present" without entering a vote were also Democrats except one: Conyers (MI), Frank (MA), Holt (NJ), Payne (NJ), Pence (Republican from IN), Schakowsky (PA), Schwartz (PA), Wasserman-Schultz (FL), Welch (VT) and Yarmuth (KY

RESOLUTION
Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith. Whereas Christmas, a holiday of great significance to Americans and many other cultures and nationalities, is celebrated annually by Christians throughout the United States and the world;

Whereas there are approximately 225,000,000 Christians in the United States, making Christianity the religion of over three-fourths of the American population; Whereas there are approximately 2,000,000,000 Christians throughout the world, making Christianity the largest religion in the world and the religion of about one-third of the world population;

Whereas Christians identify themselves as those who believe in the salvation from sin offered to them through the sacrifice of their savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and who, out of gratitude for the gift of salvation, commit themselves to living their lives in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible; Whereas Christians and Christianity have contributed greatly to the development of western civilization;

Whereas the United States, being founded as a constitutional republic in the traditions of western civilization, finds much in its history that points observers back to its roots in Christianity; Whereas on December 25 of each calendar year, American Christians observe Christmas, the holiday celebrating the birth of their savior, Jesus Christ;

Whereas for Christians, Christmas is celebrated as a recognition of God's redemption, mercy, and Grace; and Whereas many Christians and non-Christians throughout the United States and the rest of the world, celebrate Christmas as a time to serve others:

Now, therefore be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives--

(1) recognizes the Christian faith as one of the great religions of the world;

(2) expresses continued support for Christians in the United States and worldwide;

(3) acknowledges the international religious and historical importance of Christmas and the Christian faith;

(4) acknowledges and supports the role played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States and in the formation of the western civilization;

(5) rejects bigotry and persecution directed against Christians, both in the United States and worldwide; and(

6) expresses its deepest respect to American Christians and Christians throughout the world.

Local Government:
We believe that today’s federal government is too large and intrusive.  We believe that the American people, acting through their State and local elected officials, can do better for themselves and should have control over programs like education and welfare - thereby pushing power away from official Washington and returning it to the people in their communities and states.
